I needed smaller mugs for myNescafe Dolce Gusto Machine and choose these. I was very happy with them for that purpose, but found that I use them all the time now. They are especially nice for guests to have warm cider or hot chocolate. I use them myself for coffee since they are pretty (but not when I want a big cup.) Since they are relatively inexpensive and come in a set of 12, I don't have to serve in clunky mugs or tiny china cups...and they make a nice presentation being clear (such as with some whipped cream on top...yum!) They are feminine since they have the taper, but not too girly-girly. I am actually considering ordering more to use in order to serve a appetizer/soup course at thanksgiving! With these I won't have to get back up and collect a pile of empty bowls.
They aren't fancy crystal, they are pressed glass (and I agree with the other poster that you can see the seams if you look)...but still very nice for their purpose. Plus you don't have to worry about any the lead content in possible weird glazes ad these are much harder to chip than porcelain mugs. I did notice though that milk-based drinks leave a line (like where the level of the drink was) even after the dishwasher. This is true though on my other glass mugs, so it isn't just these. Just wipe them out a little before the dishwasher.
